Community initiative supports the growth of fresh produce on-site

Intertek Suriname recently partnered with a local children’s home in Wanica to enhance an on-site food garden designed to deliver long-term benefits for the children in its care.

Colleagues visited the home to clear part of the property, restore existing plant beds and install a shaded structure to support future cultivation. More than 50 fruit and vegetable plants and trees were planted, including eggplants, taro leaves, cherries, coconuts, oranges, papayas and cassava.

The initiative will help increase the availability of fresh produce on-site while improving the outdoor environment. It also promoted sustainable gardening practices and environmental awareness, helping children learn practical ways to care for the planet.
